What is a CPU of a computer?
The abbreviation for Central Processing Unit is CPU. We can also call it the brain of the computer. It is also called processor or microprocessor. It controls various devices connected to the PC. It analyzes the information and data received by the computer. It is an electronic microchip.
The CPU is the brain of a computer, containing all the circuitry needed to process input, store data, and output results. The CPU is constantly following instructions of computer programs that tell it which data to process and how to process it. Without a CPU, we could not run programs on a computer.
What Are the 3 Parts Of a CPU?, How does a CPU work explain with diagram? What is Control Unit?
After knowing about CPU, it is also necessary to know how it works. So let's know how it works -
The CPU can process those instructions easily, thanks to a control unit that knows how to interpret program instructions and an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) that knows how to add numbers. With the control unit and ALU combined, the CPU can process much more complex programs than a simple calculator.
CPU mainly performs its work in three parts, firstly when a user gives input i.e. data or information to the computer through input device and then after processing the data or information, after that the results are displayed on the monitor as output. It shows . The CPU takes only a few seconds for this whole process.
What are the 3 parts of a CPU?
After knowing the working system of CPU, it is very important to understand its parts as well.
It mainly consists of three parts-
- Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)
- Control Unit (CU)
- Memory
1. Arithmetic Logic Unit(ALU)
An ALU is a digital circuit used to perform arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and logic operations. It represents the fundamental building block of the central processing unit (CPU) of a computer. Modern CPUs have very powerful and complex ALUs.
The following two types of calculations are done by ALU
- Arithmetic Operation
- Logical Operation
Arithmetical Operation
Under arithmetic operation, various types of mathematical calculations such as addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (x) and division (÷) etc. are done. All these actions are completed in the Arithmetic section.
It also performs various types of comparison operations such as
== | compares operands |
≠ | not equal to |
< | less than |
> | greater than |
<= | less than or equal to |
>= | greater than or equal to |
!~ | does not contain |
~ | string comparison |
Logical Operation
Under logical operation, various types of logical calculations such as OR gate, AND gate, NOT gate, NAND gate, NOR gate and XOR gate etc. are done, all these operations are completed in LOGIC SECTION.
Control Unit
Control Unit is a main component of the Central Processing Unit i.e CPU, it is also called Control Unit, it is also called CU in short, so let's know what is Control Unit.
All the different types of calculations (Arithmetical Operation and Local Operation) or processing are done in the ALU, the control unit controls the process of all this processing, from where the data is to be taken by the control unit ie Input Device, when to put it in the storage device. When to take the bar data and what to do with the data and how to send the final result to the Output Device, all these tasks are possible only from the Control Unit (CU) of the Computer System.
I hope you must have liked What is a CPU of a computer? ,What Are The 3 Parts Of A CPU?, How does a CPU work explain with diagram? What is Control Unit? (Control Unit). We all must have information about computers because today's era is computer age, today everything is being controlled through this, so we must know small things about it.
