My dear students and friends, in today's blog we will know that What are the main types of computers? So let's know how many types of computers are there?

You must have seen computers in other places like office, school, college etc. and also have seen that where some computers are big in some size, either some small, or some work very fast or some very slow. They do their work and the ability to do the work is also different.

Therefore, we can divide the computer into different parts on the basis of their size, function, and utility. :-

1.On the basis of Application):-

(i) (Analog Computer )

(ii) Digital Computer)

(iii) Hybrid Computer)

(i) Analog Computer ):-

Analog computers are computers that are used to measure physical units such as pressure, temperature, length, etc., and convert them into numbers. The use of analog computers is mainly used in the field of science and engineering because quantities are used more in these areas.

Analog computer result we get in the form of graph etc. Like thermometer is used to measure temperature, analog computer is used to see the heartbeat, measure the amount of petrol or diesel released from the pump at a petrol pump, shows it in liters and calculates its value. Shows it on the screen etc. All this work is done by analog computer only.

(ii) (Digital Computer):-

Digital computers are those computers that convert any data into binary form and perform all kinds of calculations on the basis of binary sum. It can also perform arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and logical operations as well.

Digital computer compared to analog computer. Provide more accurate results and they are faster than analog computers.

All the computers that are used today come under all digital computers. A digital computer does the work of counting.

(iii) Hybrid Computer:-

Hybrid computers are those computers in which the properties or characteristics of both analog computers and digital computers are present. These computers are more reliable. They are also used in the fields of complex mathematical equations, scientific calculations, defense etc.

For example, you must know the modem through which we use the internet, it converts analog signal into digital signal and digital signal into analog signal.

2.On the basis of Size:-

(a) Micro Computer

(b) Mini Computer

(c) Mainframe Computer

(d) Super Computer

(a) Micro Computer:-

Microcomputer was developed in the year 1970. It is also called personal computer.

Due to the presence of a microprocessor in it, they were called microcomputers. This computer is smaller in size, cheaper in price and better in capacity than before. All the personal computers we have used so far come under microcomputers.

Modern desktop computers, video game consoles, laptops, tablet PCs, and a variety of handheld devices, including mobile phones, pocket calculators, and industrial embedded systems, can all be considered examples of microcomputers as defined above. The first successful computer in microcomputer was the PC XT, in which 8085 micro processor was used.

(b) Mini Computer:-

After microcomputer comes the number of mini computer. These computers are smaller than mainframe computers and personal computers are larger. These computers are used by big companies and they are considered reliable. In price, it is much more expensive than a microcomputer.

Due to the high cost, it is not possible to use them individually. They are also smaller in size and have more storage capacity. As in some examples of mini computers, the PDP-1 was the first mini computer. Which was initially created keeping this business application and service target.

(c) Mainframe Computer:-

The processing capacity of mainframe computers is much higher than that of minicomputers and it is used in the context of scientific work done by large business companies for data processing or large institutions for bulk data version. Many people can do different tasks at the same time on this computer.

The working capacity of mainframe computer is higher than that of other computers. Along with being quite large in size, they also have more storage capacity. The first mainframe computer named UNIVAC-I was made in the USA in 1951. It is used in big government organizations (government organizations) and other private companies. It has the ability to work 24x7 hours.

(d) Super Computer:-

Supercomputers are the most powerful computers ever made. It is used in meteorology and space science in our country. The name of the company that makes supercomputers in our country is CDAC. This institute has created the world's most powerful supercomputer in the name of Param 10000 (PARAM 10000). Supercomputers are mostly used for scientific and engineering applications.

These types of computers can quickly solve even the most complex problems of any kind. It has the ability to work, efficiency and maximum storage capacity.

In 2018, a supercomputer named IBM Summit 200-petaflop was installed in Oak Ridge Company and so far it is considered to be the world's most powerful and fast supercomputer. It can perform more than ten crore calculations in a second. Its speed is measured by mega flop.

There are many such big organizations like Google, Youtube, Facebook, WhatsApp etc. that use supercomputers. Here these big organizations use supercomputers because supercomputers have a lot of storage capacity, so they can store a lot of data or information.

The names of the world's best and most powerful supercomputers are as follows-

1. Sunway TaihuLight (China)

2. Tianhe-2 (China)

3. Piz Daint (Switzerland)

4. Gyoukou (Japan)

5. Titan (United States)
